Child Custody & Child Support Documents

Establish custody, modify a parenting schedule, or adjust child support with experienced family law paralegals. Over 2,500 family law cases handled in Los Angeles County.

You may not have to pay the court’s filing fee.

California waives court filing fees for people below certain income levels — and that fee is often larger than our price. We prepare fee-waiver applications, and we will tell you in about five minutes whether you are likely to qualify.

And flat fee means flat fee. If the court sends a document back, we revise it and resubmit it at no additional cost to you. No hourly billing. No revision fees. No second invoice.

Protecting Your Children's Best Interests

Child Custody

01

Establish Paternity (If Unmarried)

A Petition to Establish Parental Relationship is filed first — paternity must be established before custody can be ordered.

02

File the Request for Order

A Request for Order asks the court to establish or change a physical and legal custody and visitation schedule.

03

Serve the Other Parent

The other parent is served with the Request for Order and given notice of the hearing.

04

Court-Ordered Mediation

The court schedules a mediation appointment to help both parents reach a parenting plan in the best interest of the child.

05

Hearing & Custody Order

If mediation doesn't resolve everything, the judge holds a hearing and issues a binding custody and visitation order. Orders can be modified later if circumstances change.

Child Support

01

Establish Paternity (If Needed)

For unmarried parents, paternity must be established before a support order can be requested.

02

File the Request for Order

A Request for Order asks the court to establish, increase, or lower a child support amount.

03

Income & Expense Documentation

Income and expense forms are gathered and a Dissomaster child support calculation is prepared per California Guidelines.

04

Serve the Other Parent

The other parent is served with the Request for Order and given notice of the hearing date.

05

Hearing & Support Order

The court reviews the calculation and issues a binding child support order, which can include wage garnishment and be modified later if circumstances change.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I establish child custody in Los Angeles?

We help you file a Petition to Establish Parental Relationship. Once paternity is established, you can file a Request for Order asking the court to set a legal and binding custody and visitation schedule. We handle requesting mediation and a hearing date, and serving the other parent.

Can you help me increase or lower child support?

Yes. We prepare the Request for Order, child support calculations (Dissomaster), and income and expense documentation, then file with the court and serve the other party. With 22 years of experience, we know how to pursue a modification in California.

The other parent stopped paying child support. What can I do?

It's always better to have a court order in place. If the other parent has stopped paying and you need to go to court, we can prepare the documents to help you enforce and collect what's owed to your child.

Can child support be established without a divorce?

Yes. Once paternity is established through a parentage case, you can request child support, custody, and visitation orders — you don't need to be going through a divorce to do this.

How much do child custody and support documents cost?

Pricing depends on the specific documents your case requires. We offer flat-rate, affordable pricing well below attorney fees, and we'll give you an exact quote during your free consultation. Call (818) 649-6024 to discuss your case.
