Los Angeles Bankruptcy Document Preparation

Get a fresh start with affordable Chapter 7 bankruptcy document preparation. 640 Chapter 7 cases successfully filed with the U.S. Central District Bankruptcy Court.

You may not have to pay the court’s filing fee.

California waives court filing fees for people below certain income levels — and that fee is often larger than our price. We prepare fee-waiver applications, and we will tell you in about five minutes whether you are likely to qualify.

And flat fee means flat fee. If the court sends a document back, we revise it and resubmit it at no additional cost to you. No hourly billing. No revision fees. No second invoice.

Automatic Stay Takes Effect

Filing immediately halts wage garnishment, collection calls, evictions and foreclosure proceedings while the case is open.

06

341 Meeting of Creditors

Roughly 4–6 weeks after filing, the trustee reviews the case by phone. No judge, no courtroom appearance — most meetings run a few minutes.

07

Second Financial Course

Complete the second required course — debtor education — any time after filing and before discharge.

08

Discharge Order

Typically 60–90 days after the 341 meeting, the court enters the discharge order — eligible debts are wiped out. Total time from filing: about 3–4 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Los Angeles?

Most debtors qualify with our flat-fee filing. Even homeowners with less than roughly $600,000 in equity can often file Chapter 7. If you're behind on payments, only making minimum payments, or facing wage garnishment, you may be a strong candidate. We review your eligibility during a free case evaluation.

How much does Chapter 7 bankruptcy cost?

We never charge more than $300 plus the $338 court filing fee to prepare and assist with your Chapter 7 petition. Attorneys typically charge $1,500 or more for the same service.

Will I have to go to court?

No. With our preparation, you will not appear in court in front of a judge. You will attend a 341 Meeting of Creditors, which is now typically held over the phone, and we provide a tested guide with sample questions.

Can bankruptcy stop my wage garnishment?

Yes. If you've received a wage garnishment notice, filing for bankruptcy at the right time can stop the garnishment. In California a creditor can garnish up to 25% of your monthly income, so timing matters — contact us right away.

What Clients Say on Yelp

★★★★★
“I was referred to Los Angeles Paralegals by a friend, on a very tough time for me. I had a wage garnishment letter from court in my hand. And didn't know what to do, Los Angeles Paralegals explained to me all my options and helped me make a wise decision. He helped me with my Bankruptcy paperwork, explained all the procedure to me in "baby steps" after filing for the bankruptcy he helped me to also do the reaffirmation for my car so the bank won't take it and I will receive credit for making payments on my credit history. He also answered every minor and major questions I had about pretty much everything about my case and my situation. And everything was done for a very small fee.”
