2026 Bankruptcy Means Test — Median Income Screen

Uses U.S. Trustee Program / Census Bureau state median family income figures for cases filed on or after July 15, 2026. This checks only the first step of the means test (11 U.S.C. § 707(b)(7)) — comparing your annualized current monthly income (CMI) to the median for your state and household size. It does not replace the full expense-based means test (Form 122A-2 / 122C-2).

The federal means test compares income to your state's median — city or county doesn't change the cutoff.

Use the average gross income of all household members over the 6 full calendar months before filing — this is "Current Monthly Income" (CMI) under 11 U.S.C. § 101(10A).
